Our last hiking stop in Switzerland – Zermatt and Matterhorn. We could have spent a few more days here to wonder the town. It’s cute, small, and reminded us of a better, cozy version of Banff.

Our hotel was insane. It was designed by the owner’s brother, who is an architect, and metal worker. He designed and made the chairs, chandeliers, even the little door knobs and locks. Each room has a private balcony facing Matterhorn!

We took the train up to Gornergrat that has the most amazing views of Matterhorn and snow. Then we began the short hike down to Riffelsee to take photos of Matterhorn with the lake, and finally down to Riffelberg station. The trail is easy, downhill, with views of Matterhorn the whole way through!
